Yet another project started! Wastelanders Advance!

I've started yet another project, I think I have hobby based ADHD.

This all started after the Ramshackle games kickstarter caught my attention:

This led to an evening pursuing Ramshackle Curtis's awesome terrain and vehicles and eventually led to me backing the £34 rules/vehicles package and also means I will probably be putting through an order when I get paid too. Check out Ramshackles awesome stuff on their website, I love the dirty but colourful apocalypse that Ramshackle games are building and the characterful mini's and vehicles that he puts out.

I thought I'd get an early start on some vehicle construction for the upcoming post apocalypse.
The current vehicle is based on the chassis of a 0.99p shop car and tractor, a ton of plasticard, printer parts and pretty much all of my super glue :-)

So far I've only added the base coat of silver and various browns:

I intend to add some chipped color over the rusty base and add some verdigris and even more weathering to jazz it up and make it less brown and give it some more character

Here's a couple of shots with Mini's so you can get an idea of the size.

The turret on the back is made from plastic card and watch parts and has a magnetic washer on the base so it can be removed. The magnet I used was salvaged from an old pair of headphones and is built into the roof of the truck so hopefully I can build different attachments in the future.

The mini-gun barrel is made up from the ink barrels from some Biro's cut into sections

The Ammo feed is  made from a small piece taken from a circuit board and an old metal watch strap.

One amazing thing that I discovered was that the bearing in an old PC fan with the blades removed was a perfect fit for the underside of the turret so it can be fully rotatable, you can see what I mean in the image below:

Here's a few more shots of the truck:

The heavily rusted sections on the truck like on the bottom of the dozer blade were achieved by mixing bird sand from the pet section of Wilco's with black craft paint at the undercoating stage. 

All the handles were made from really small sections of paperclip bent into the correct shape.

The hatch to the drivers cab is made from a first edition rhino door mounted on a 30mm lipped base.

The exhausts on the back are sections of a £1 set of plastic construction toys that I'm starting to run out of which work perfectly in rusty post apocalyptic situations.

The cab grating is the left over plasticard from all the rivet creation.

I should hopefully get some more colour slapped on the vehicle over the weekend providing I don't start some more projects or get distracted by any bright lights or loud noises.

NEW PJ's

Slapped some quick paint on a couple of mini's last night between attempting to put together the Grenadier Death Giant and a Rafm Great Chthulhu both of which are seriously taxing my patience and doing me out of drill bits (so far I've managed to snap two).

First up we have an Ancient Citadel C03 Cleric (third row down on the right)

Nice and simple paint job, nowt special, next up we have a Citadel Ghost from their Night Horror range.

I'm not 100% convinced with the finished paint job on this guy and will probably re-visit him at some point in the future.

Next up we have an Earthdawn mini that I'm using as a sort of interdimensional visitor, I can't get this guy to photograph properly, the purples are more vivid in 'real' life I promise:

Now we have some EM4 miniatures proto shoggoths, again going to be used as summoned entities:

That's all for now this week, I might possibly be able to show the fully assembled monstrosities later this week but that all depends on my ability.

Recent Loot

Feeling a bit under the weather at the moment so not much progress on the painting front apart from finishing some long ago half started causality markers:

I've no idea who manufactures these as I picked them up at a convention awhile back, I've mounted them on 25mm washers.

Saturday was the Newbury and Reading wargames Society Call to Arms show which is only down he road from where I live so is always worth a visit, just a quick peruse of the stalls and bring and buy got me all this:

From Ainsty's stall a heap of old TSR, Earthdawn, Skavvies, Ungors and other assorted beasties, here's a few shots of everything un-packaged:

Also picked up a copy of the Advanced Terrain Modelling for a whopping £3 which looks like a bargain if the prices on Amazon and ebay are anything to go by.

That's it on the loot front, but stroke of luck I won my first ever competition!!

Miniature Heroes had a facebook competition with a chance to win some OOP Reaper mini's and I done did win which was nice.

Long time no post

Hey everyone sorry for he gap in posts but real life hugely got in the way of any blogging and it's taken me a while to get back in the swing of things and I'm still not really back to 100%, so going forward for the next few months there might not be a huge amount of updates to my blog as I'm pretty much in the process of re-arranging my entire life. Anyway that's enough on the 'real' front here's what I've been up to on the hobby front.

I finally managed to have a big sort out of my desk and get everything arranged how I wanted:

An easy solution to my display needs, the glass inserts were a little bit of a pain in the arse to put together but look great and should hopefully keep he dust off. I'm aiming to add  some strip lighting to each of the sections as it's a little on the dark side the lower you get down through the shelves but that's an addition for next months pay packet.

Here's a blurry shot of one of the sections, my plans going forward are to create a Small themed diorama for the bottom of each section and get some clear acrylic risers for the top shelf to best use the space and also so you can see the mini's at the back of each section, something along these lines:

Also above my desk I've attached some cheap plastic trays that now hold all my mini's that are technically WIP's that way I can grab anything that catches my eye and hopefully it'll mean that I get more mini's finished.

On the most recent purchase front I got a random box of lead from ebay that contained all of these guys:

A ton of old citadel and Grenadier mini's that for now I've just undercoated ready for basing, I'll probably do a separate update with individual shots at a later date.

Lovely little mini, but a little on the rough side sculpting wise so I've done the best I can and given him a fiery finish.

Next we have the awesome Saughin mini's that I got from my brother at Christmas:

The items in their hands I made myself from greenstuff and other spare weapons, I imagine anything that they would use as weapons would be scavenged and heavily corroded.
Lastly for now I've painted up one of the Grenadier Demons from their box-set as an addition to the aquatic group (http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~tpope/sol/grenadier/images/6006.jpg)
