DISAPPEARING UNDER A LEAD MOUNTAIN

Just thought I'd share with you pictures of what I'm working against, here's my stuff that's almost ready to get to the painting table:
Everything in here should be based up and most of it is undecorated ready to go it's just a case of me ever the time to paint it. On top of this I've got a crate of un-based treasures that I keep adding too:
The most recent additions are these old citadel goodies
All the old school action over on the awesome Realm of Chaos blog http://realmofchaos80s.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/do-you-have-miniatures-wish-list.html has re-sparked my old school citadel love and currently this lot is winging it's way to me from ebay:
There's just something about the old school citadel stuff that has wonderful character that I feel most of the current Games Workshop stuff is lacking, it's probably partly nostalgia but the new stuff doesn't have the same soul... Anyway moving on, I just scored these awesome tomes at the charity shop for £1.50 each:
I've mainly bought them to look a the pictures as I have no intention to play fantasy roleplay and completely lack the space or a castle to play siege games but still they are still nice things to own and will be added to the pile of unused rule-books

Moving on from old oldhammer I finished up some more zombies, first up are some foundry plague victims:

I've tried to keep them time period neutral so they could be used for modern systems along with fantasy settings. I went for different base colours and washes for them all to give them a different finish and look.

Next up are a couple of Alpha force mutated zombie's

I love the look of these mini's the bursting head tumours and the general John Carpenters 'Thing' look they have going for them.

This update took about ten times longer than it should have as I kept getting distracted by the awesome BBC documentary 'Punk Britannia', if you can get on the BBC iPlayer and give the three part series a go it's well worth it.

MORE PAINTED ZOMBIES

First off howdy to all the new people that have joined the blog I'm almost breaking the 50 people mark here which is pretty cool. If you have any interest in zombies gaming you should get yourself over to the board of the living dead (http://boardofthelivinglead.proboards.com/index.cgi) as this seems to be the congregating point for the Zombloggers that have inspired me.

Anyway on to the mini's, I finished a couple more Zombies for the Horde last night:

From left to right, two Copplestone plague zombies, a Forlorn Hope games zombie (http://www.forlornhopegames.co.uk/#/item.php?PK_UniqueID=4077) and a Lead Adventures Child of The Zone

First up is one of the Copplestone Plague Zombies from the Future Wars Range on a home made base, I think he's turned out a little too shiny but should look better once I get hold of some matt varnish.

Another Copplestone plague Zombie that for the life of me I couldn't get to focus but you get the idea. I think his suit needs something adding to it like possibly stripes but for now he will remain in his boring grey suit until I see something to copy off.

Next up is the unknown Zombie that I got from Forlorn Hope games, I've tried to capture an older dryer zombie finish for this guy and left off any reds so he looks more 'husky'. I get the feeling that he's been stuck in a hospital room for some time and has finally managed to escape and is dragging a section of metal from the door frame.

Lastly is this saggy mess from the Lead Adventure post apocalyptic range, he's part of the Children of the Zone set which includes some fantastic mini's. If you've ever played S.T.A.L.K.E.R you should check out the whole range as it's pretty much the character models from the game recreated in 28mm. I've just realized that he is actually supposed to be wearing trousers  and not be completely naked (check out the pic in the link http://www.lead-adventure.com/product_info.php?cPath=1&products_id=49)
When I was painting him I didn't realize it was supposed to be trousers and painted him up starkers. I just thought he had exceptionally saggy flesh from the huge stomach wound but thinking about it further in hindsight he doesn't seem to have anything in the way of genitals so maybe that should have been a trousers based clue. Nevermind he can now forever be a saggy nude eunuch zombie.

Also this week I finally received my first box of Wargames Factory plastic Zombies. I've seen these in a lot of peoples blogs and wasn't to impressed with the quality of the sculpts but when a box of 24 popped up on ebay for £9 with free postage I took the plunge and at £0.37.5p a zombie I can't really complain.
I'll post up a proper look at the figures whenever I get round to painting and assembling them.

I never know how to end a blog post so..........bye

NEW MINI'S

Sorry for the lack of recent updates, my internet at home has been playing up and it hasn't helped changing over to a different supplier so I'm currently running my blog on my lunch break at work.

Not a huge amount of progress since the last update:

Another Zombie child for the horde, she's part of this set from Heresy: (http://www.heresyminiatures.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_11_26&products_id=122)
Not sure on the pics though I may retake them as they're a little on the dark side, I think she came out pretty well and I'm so glad my freehand double yellow lines are relatively straight on the base.
Next up is a RAFM dimensional shambler from their Chthulhu range
http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RAF&Product_Code=RAF02923&Category_Code=COCM.

Similar to the flesh ghosts from the previous post I think my zombie apocalypse scenario is leaning towards some kind of virus that animates dead organic matter so this guy could be animated plastic surgery off-cuts and leftovers... it also gives me more scope for mini's and a bit more variety. When ever I ever get round to actually playing a game or creating a board I think I will come up with some more concrete back story but in the meanwhile I'll crack on painting up a heap of zombies and monsters.
Next up is this guy from the same range as the zombie girl, he's not finished yet but I think the flesh is some of the best I've done so far, I'm not to sure on what to do with his trousers but may give recreating denim in 28mm scale a go.

This week I also received these mini's from ebay US from the Spinespur range:
http://www.comfychairgames.com/range.php?range_id=6
The zombies are a little on the skinny size but should fit in with the rest of the horde quite nice when painted up. The other guy will fit in nice as a post apocalypse psycho butcher and is an awesome mini that I've had my eye on for awhile.

On my usual Saturday mooch around the charity shops my local British Heart book shop had this gem,
It seems that you can also get it used from Amazon for £0.01 which is considerably less than I paid for it but I get more free Karma points with my purchase as it was for Charity
It's similar in presentation to a D&D Monster manual in that you get info on Habitat Culture etc on a series of different Alien species from classic sci-fi novels. Looking at Amazon Wayne Barlow also has a Fantasy guide out too which I shall keep an eye out for:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Barlowes-Guide-Fantasy-Douglas-Barlowe/dp/0061052388/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1335963623&sr=8-9

Lastly if anyone knows what the hell this is let please me know? He was a last minute ebay purchase and looks suitably veiny to fit in with the other chunks of animated meat and flesh

The Horde Rises

Just finished the first Zombie for my modern zombie horde, I think this is the smallest model I've ever painted and was a little fiddly but in the end I think he turned out ok.

Here's a shot of the growing horde and the post apoc type survivors, its a mix of loads of different manufacturers, Foundry, Lead Adventures etc, all told I've got around 70 odd zombies now I just need to paint some of them up and I should have a decent set up for some Zombie gaming.

MORE ZOMBIES

Just finished a couple more Zombies, more of the citadel C-series, I'm trying to keep the clothes on these guys time period neutral so that they can be used for modern day or fantasy. As I've recently purchased the 2 Hour Wargames All Things Zombie ruleset that I'm trying to get my head round at the moment I'm aiming to gather up a Zombie Horde for future post apocalyptic gaming.

Here's the new paint jobs:

It was mine and my dad's Birthday at the weekend so spent most of the weekend back up north in Cumbria with the family. My brother got me some awesome mini's (Cheers!) three of them being Hell Dorando figures, a range I've never owed any figures from but from the quality of the sculpts I'll be getting more, wallet permitting.

The top three are, Jinx (a Zombie baby), Foulques the Black (hunchback fella) and Wormpile, (a massive pile of worms), the bottom one is 'The Old Death' from Enigma Miniatures. I think I might give him a fancy base but I'm not sure what yet but I can envision some kind of pillar of souls/skulls?

Also as it was my Birthday I've spanked a ton of money on some min's to add to the lead pile from various places that should turn up over the next couple of days, I've got enough fantasy so I decided to go for post apocalyptic and zombies for a change. I've got an order through for some Foundry street Violence stuff, Copplestone future wars, RAFM zombies, Alpha Forge Zombies and some Forlorn Hope figures that all should hopefully turn up this week and take their place on the lead mound.
